Decarbing activates the THCA converting it to THC so you can use the buds for edibles. Otherwise eating or cooking with the weed won’t get you high.
Cannabis flower does not have any THC, it only has THCA, the THCA needs to be converted to THC to get you high. This happens from the heat when you burn or vape it. It’s why eating straight bud doesn’t get you high. Decarboxylation (decarbing) is the process of applying heat to convert the THCA into THC so you can use it in edibles.
